You can be the master of the changes in your career and in your life.
Life Lesson from Bordeaux
There is a lesson to learn from the grapes of Bordeaux. The first thing we learned is that terroir is very important. Wine Folly definition “Terroir is how a particular region’s climate, soils and aspect(terrain) affect the taste of wine. Consider what is it that you need to bring out the best in you. Know that you are your terroir. Study your terrain internally and externally so that you can know what the best of you is and when to cultivate the rich resources you have. This provides you with the strength to withstand any obstacle and continue to push through like the grapes of Siaurac. With this knowledge you can use what you have to be your best you.
Education At It's Finest
Morgan greeted and thanked me for coming but told me the meeting was just with him and my son. He had not been performing up to his full potential and wanted my son to brainstorm with him on what he needed to do to elevate his performance and then sign a contract committing to what he would do going forward.

LESSONS WE TEACH OURSELF - CONFESSIONS FROM A LAZY BLOGGER
2017 ended with my posting of a holiday blog and making a commitment to write at least twice a month in 2018. I sat down and wrote the first and posted it. Yay off to a good start. I can’t say what happened, but it is now June and I have not posted twice a month. I just heard someone say “if you think it then ink it.”
"It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"
When I hear that sung I light up and find myself being carried away by the melody, the lyrics, and the enchantment. If I enter a store and Holiday music is playing the people working there appear to be even more helpful and happy. It is as if the lyrics are ordering their behavior.
What are you doing to make this the most wonderful time of the year?
I went to a Christmas Party last night and I began smiling as soon as I entered. There was warmth, love, and joy in every decoration and in every face. The hosts set the tone with their welcome and the loving attention they provided. I felt as though I was in Christmas Land. We sang Christmas carols that are still bouncing around in my head and in my heart.
Reflecting on the lyrics of “It’s A Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”, there are two ideas that stand out for me as ingredients for bringing magic.
1) “Everyone telling you ‘Be of good cheer’. Just think if we were surrounded by such a powerful positive directive throughout the year, there would be more joy, more appreciation for one another and more positive energy. No matter what may be going on in your life when you encounter joyous and loving energy saying “Be of good cheer”, the light goes on,
2) “Happiest season of all with those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings.” The declaration is that this is a happy time so let the greetings and meetings reflect that. I belong to an organization that the meetings are more often than not a downer. It takes a lot of energy to be there and there are always a few who want to dwell on how to keep it depressing. However, one member decided to be of good cheer and organized a Holiday gathering this year with the focus being of good Cheer. It was successful. The declaration is that this is a happy time and the action she took brought magic to this organization. Resolve to bring this attitude to your work and your play throughout the year.
Close your eyes and indelibly imprint the happiest time during this Holiday season on your brain. In 2018 when bah humbug resurfaces, replay this image you imprinted and then you be the one to say to yourself and others “Be of good cheer and help find ways to bring happy meetings.
Now that you have some of the magical ingredients for the most wonderful time of the year, you can use them whenever you want to bring the wonder throughout the year.
Merry Christmas! It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Lesson I learned from Burpees
Monday is always such a tough day for me going to the gym. I think my weekends are filled with too much eating and not enough cardiovascular activity. Monday rolls around and before I even get out of bed I am cringing at the workout that Christiana, the fitness General at my gym will be taking me through. Today was no exception. I found myself huffing and puffing for one hour of weights and aerobics. After she has sufficiently worn every fiber in me out, she generally has us do two sets of burpees for 30 seconds a set. 30 seconds never seem so long as when you are doing burpees .
I begin the class with the thought how can I find the strength to do two sets of burpees. I forgot to say that in the second set you have to do more than the first set. This particular Monday I began dreading going to the gym more than ever because of all of the Holiday festivities I attended over the weekend. As I walked to the gym I was chanting that I would not be a wimp and would embrace the burpees with a smile. As we got to the place in the class when Christiana smiles and says " Ok boys and girls you know the drill....". I waited to hear announce it's burpee time. To my surprise she changed the workout that day and we never did burpees. I had spent considerable time and energy fretting and then working myself up to meet the challenge, only for it to never present itself
How many times have you spent time worrying about something that never presented itself? The worry was more debilitating than the challenge. I resolve from now on to enter my class with enthusiasm that I have a body that works and a trainer that is committed to making me be the best that I can be. When it's burpee time I know to go with the flow.
Thank you Christiana.
