Books hold the key to life, laughter, love, mysteries, history, future, old myths, and new possibilities. When I lose myself in a book, I find that I can understand what I don’t know. I can escape into unknown territories. In New York recently there was the 2014 Book Expo at the Javits Center. The center looks like a futuristic glass kingdom. The most incredible setting to lose oneself in time, space, and words. Publishers, authors, and speakers from all over the world came to share the how to of writing publishing, marketing. If Washington Irving were alive he would be amazed at how much social media plays in launching a book. He would be surprised to know that he could be at the Jacob Javits Center autographing books for 2 hours with lines of people waiting to get him to sign his book for them and possibly take a photo that will immediately go on Twitter or Facebook.
There was no evidence that we have fewer bookstores. You can now write, have published or self publish and share the book you have within you to the world. There is no excuse not to get your message out.
The magical number for me was Booth#3005 where my book “It’s Your Turn: Uncovering The Best You Now” was on display. It was no longer in my head but on display and available for others to know that they could take their turn and find their best self. The glass kingdom on 11th Avenue held inside for four days the keys for the many attendees to find their missing peace in the pages of the books, books, and more books.
I floated away from the glass kingdom to talk about my book in a room full of people ready to uncover their best.
